Creating backup copies of user files
It's a good idea to make a regular backup copy of the Users & Groups Data File, so that you can restore the file if it becomes damaged.
To back up your Users & Groups Data File:
1 |
Stop all AppleShare IP servers and quit all administration programs. |
|
Performing the backup when the server is not running helps ensure the integrity of the backup copy. |
2 |
Copy the Users & Groups Data File (in the Preferences folder inside the System Folder on your computer's startup disk) to another disk. |
3 |
Using a backup utility that can copy invisible files, back up the AppleShare PDS file for each shared volume (this file records access privileges, shared items, and other AppleShare IP-specific information). |
4 |
Remove the backup disk and store it in a safe place. |
